Town Monster
Town Monster is a song for anyone that’s ever felt like the lost kid living in the abandoned, derelict house at the end of the street, peering out of the shutters at the nonsensical and isolating world outside the window. Dreamt up while hiding away in a small hut somewhere in rural Austria, Homonym’s tale depicts a character hiding in plain sight in a fast moving urban world, lost amid the noise, bright lights and humans. Reflected is the sad irony that the greater the metropolises we live in, the lonelier and more detached we inevitably become. Defiantly sad, the song is woven from one simple threaded folk guitar line, while a myriad of fluttering pianos, melancholic horns and floating guitars cascade around the haunting vocal. The song ends with the window finally cracked open, revealing the noises of children playing outside, leaving hope that naivety and playfulness can be found again in dark places.more
